New case, sort of...
The Prostitute Robber of Shum Shui Po
Kinda of, since there's no court case for this one. I am not even sure who is the actor as that robber or all the prostitutes' names but I do know Jing Jing is a lesson as to when you stick by your principle and as to when you should just abandon it. I am sorry to say I am beginning to find this series descending into the usual fare, even Law Ba seems so ordinary by this episode. Maybe a 12 episodes series ala Japanese style would have retained Law Ba's charm and the quaintness of this series.
First the recap.
Kris was upset she lost the Yeung Kok Kui case, she wanted murder and he got manslaughter when everyone knew he was guilty as hell and Law Ba whom I remember smiling when PK delivered his summation indeed knew what was going on as he said "You didn't lose on principle; you lost on technicalities. You seriously think our accused didn't consult someone right after he killed Miu Yeuk Lai?" and Kris realised and said "That dirty bastard!! He used dirty tactics to win!!" and Law Ba said "Exactly, but you can only blame your inexperience" and Kris said "That's not fair! How can that wife murderer walk away with manslaughter?! How can PK sleep at night?" and Law Ba said "That is why I had to leave HK. My conscience couldn't take it. Surprising that there exists people in this world without a conscience. Never be like PK, don't you dare to be like him" and Kris said "You really think I will stoop so low? I won't, I promise but I am still upset... he should have gone in for murder!" and Law Ba smiled and said "I can give you a reward..." and she asked "Which is..." and he kissed her on the lips, proceeded to his office and basically had sex.
Pause here.
Pk's was dirty tactics? I am sorry Law Ba and Kris you both got it wrong. That is NOT dirty tactic, that is direct perversion of justice! Dirty tactics is delay in calling witnesses, filing papers late, taking your time, delaying matters but to teach someone how to go to see licensed doctor lar, take pills lar, etc, that is perversion of justice and these 2 righteous ones should have been MORE upset and TRIED to complain to the bar council. I swear these 2 has got their priorities wrong!
Continue.
Morning after the sex, or whatever, Law Ba was very shy as he said "You will bear responsibility won't you?" and Kris smiled and said "Don't be silly, we are adults" and poor Law Ba cried. Anyway just a silly scene.
Brushing teeth, Kris realised she has scratched Law Ba's back during sex, meaning they were very passionate and if you're counting, YES, KEVIN IS HALF NAKED ONCE AGAIN. So stop counting. He will bare his chest in EVERY SINGLE SERIES he is in, even if he plays a eunuch. So anyway, he carried her off for another exercise session.
At somewhere, the centre people are very happy Grandma Yim was settling well. But no news on Wai Chai eh? What happened to that poor boy?
The rest of the series is about Jing and her friends being robbed by a "customer" and setting up cameras to ensure protection and Jing helping her friend and ended up being held and told to strip naked and she ran naked (albeit wearing a hot pants underwear) through several streets and no one helped and 2 police dudes finally stopped the robber and arrested him. Unfortunately, Teng saw what happened, the SSP people insulted Jing and guess what? It was the police dude who insulted her now defended her, scolding the people which includes the SSP centre's worker (Teng oh Teng, how will you ever face these people again?!); "Shame on all of you! You (the men), did you help her when she cried for help? You (the women), how can you insult a fellow woman? All of you are prejudiced! Shame on all of you!!" ...
now I finally knew why she had to be a prostitute in SSP. Because of her badly scarred stomach, she was considered damaged goods and so had to charge cheap and in SSP.
Worse thing, Teng's parents saw the whole fiasco and openly forbade Teng from seeing her ever again and of course Teng refused.
But pause here.
It is darn stupid to have Jing delivering the following line when Teng told her to stop working as prostitute since so dangerous and all and he offered to help her to realise her dream to open a restaurant where she replied;
"But I want to succeed by my own effort! If I accept your help, I will have to open that restaurant. If I do it on my own, I have a choice. I told myself I will stand on my own and no other..."
and so Jing, you mean you will continue to prostitute yourself? I mean I have nothing against prostitution but lady, do you even know what you're saying? How can Teng sit aside whilst his lady is, sorry for the crude language; banging another guy for money which is in itself a business? How can the lady think the man can take it?! And what about his parents? His friends? There is still stigma in prostitution and will forever be. Her excuse is she can't do anything else. Excuses! Did she ever ask Kris to help her and give her a job and train her as a legal assistant? No. Did she ever ask Teng to employ her as social worker? No. Did she ever at least try to open a small fish ball stall to earn a decent living? No. All she say is I can't do anything else. It is such a stupid dialogue. I know, it is to reflect free choice, pro choice, independent, no biasness, no prejudice but look, do you want a former GRO to be your daughter in law if you're from a good background? No. So do you think you can accept a 100% prostitute?? Of course not. Shouldn't the series show how Jing tries to go away from this past, like money laundering, go away dirty and come back clean? Never and guess what? No spoilers since everyone knows, she will die. That's just too easy isn't it?
Anyway continue...
So Jing and Teng's love affair hits a snag.
Meanwhile, Law Ba was asked by Kris to assist her, become her advisor and so she rented him a nice office next to hers in Central, where he was 7 years before. My question is why not ask him to be her partner? Is there a need to rent an office?! Anyway, he said no, gave excuses but later was persuaded by Kris and entire Auntie King's shop and so he decided to return to Central BUT will use some of his earnings to help the SSP centre. I don't get it. Is it in HK all law firms are in central? Why can't he open a nicer looking one in SSP and still assist Kris in some of her cases? I don't get it! Anyway Law Ba was allergic to the new office, scratching his entire body and even his secretary looks at him like he's weird. Why is Mrs Leung not there with him? He is paying her salary isn't it? Anyway Kris says to Law Ba "You're no longer in SSP, you're no longer Law Ba anymore". How sad.
Anyway George was very upset to hear Law Ba was leaving but Law Ba promised if any big cases he will return. George was afraid he couldn't manage but Law Ba said "You can do it! If you haven't tried, how will you know? Cousin, this is the time to prove to your papa your capabilities. You can do it! And it's not like I am dead and all. I am still here, just not HERE" and so George is now the senior advisor of the centre.
More bombshell.
Jing met with Teng's parents and even Teng's mom, so gentle, so gentile also couldn't take it that Teng will be with a prostitute and basically insulted her with money, Teng arrived, Jing left, Teng left and Jing said "Let's be realistic; this will never work! Let's part ways" and they argued as Teng said why don't they leave SSP and go somewhere else where no one knows them like some Jin Yong wuxia story and Jing cried "Can you really leave the centre? Can I be that selfish to ask you to leave everything you have worked for?" and angrily they parted ways. Jing cried as she left.
Pause here.
Jing oh Jing, when you started to date Teng you should have "laundered" yourself by making yourself legitimate. Move away from SSP and start anew!
Anyway Teng told everyone he too is leaving, to be with Jing in France for 6 months to a year.
Pause.
A social worker who can afford a 1 year vacation in Europe? Please tell me where is this centre and I shall volunteer myself!!!
Continue.
George was upset as he said "Did you ever ask Jing whether she will go with you?" but Teng was sure she will and he made arrangements for who to take over his job as he said "No worries, I will be back, probably a year later, I am not dying or anything" and George was very very upset, and Mrs Leung later found him crying in the kitchen as she said "You miss them don't you?" and George said "It is nothing, just that... they have all left and ..." and Mrs Leung said "It's ok to cry. Don't believe in the nonsense where men don't cry, cry all you want, girls like sensitive men" and George curious said "Girls do?" and Mrs Leung said "You have no idea how many aunties and grandmas have been introducing their daughters and granddaughters in the hope to meet you! You're quite a catch you know! What sort of girl you like?" and George without hesitation said "YOU!" and Mrs Leung looked at him as he stuttered "I mean someone like yourself who respects her elders, loves her children, works hard" and Mrs Leung smiled and said "What's so good about all that?" and George was speechless as Mrs Leung said "Here, I remembered you wanted these" and he saw 2 heart shaped eggs and he was very touched by her gesture and in love with her whilst she remained duh-duh.
Pause.
Mrs Leung is a good woman. The way she treated her MIL so nice and the MIL just knew how to complain and complain, I would have loved that she just dropped the MIL down the stairs.
Continue.
Mrs Leung received a call and it was from a little boy saying his father locked his mom in a cupboard. They rushed to the place, oh authentic apartment looking rather small!! Anyway the poor boy was crying, took the keys to Mrs Leung, opened the door and repeated that his mom is locked in the cupboard. Mrs Leung was shocked to see a new wall to a room and the boy said his father built that to prevent his mom from leaving. The husband came out, drunk and George was so angry he marched up and said "YOU BETTER GIVE US THE KEY TO THE CUPBOARD" and the guy drunkenly said "OR ELSE WHAT? SHE IS MY WIFE, WHAT CAN YOU DO?!" and George said "I will call the police" and the drunkard said "Did I say I won't do it?" and he gave George the key, opened the cupboard and what Mrs Leung saw shocked her as she cried "Madam!".
Next episode; George kissed a sleeping Mrs Leung, Mr Leung beat up George, Mrs Leung is accused of adultery and in desperation hurt her useless husband.
I have said what I wanna say about the story for this episode. In fact for the entire Miu Yeuk Lai case. The last scene with the new abusive husband case is intriguing though. What a bastard, to lock his wife in the cupboard and the woman probably fainted from lack of oxygen. Poor kid and the boy acted rather well, the fear, the tears.
But the story proper for Jing is like some Greek tragedy or rather like Dream Of Red Mansion or something like that. I find her dialogue just so stupid. I understand Teng's hurt and I also understand his parents' objection. I am an open minded person and I think I will think twice before accepting Jing as my daughter in law. But Jing is a really nice girl, just stupid. Seriously, if you're a prostitute, and you got a chance to start anew, beg for all the help you can to "launder" yourself clean again. Move away somewhere new, start anew, at least when accusations are hurled at you being a dirty whore, you can hurl back and say that was your past, can't anyone have a past at all? But Jing is different. She is still a prostitute. Can any parents in law take that fact? I think not, not even a scholarly family, more so a rich family where the father in law is all about ego. Teng should have stop throwing Jing their way and slowly does it. And Law Ba and Kris' love story is sorta lacking action. When they were teasing one another, that was great but now they had done the deed and true to form for any woman that is to change their man, poor Law Ba is being stuffed into a suit, pushed into a nice office and told to earn money from those he really has no passion to help. I think Kris is doing Law Ba a bad thing and hurting me in the progress; I want to see a different Law Ba and not the usual Law Lik Ah.
And where is Mr Ma? I would have forgotten Kris works for Mr Ma if she did not hand Law Ba a file and say "Did you read Mr Ma's case?".
I find this series is going downwards, like losing steam. Even Kevin seems to be losing steam. Myolie just overacts in courtroom scene and the rest no comment. Only Jazz Lam seems to be giving out something new, something different, and Joyce Tang as well.
No wonder this series has to be 20 episodes. Any longer it will just become the usual fare.
Where is the episode 1-10 of Ghetto Justice? WHERE?!

Coroner Inquest Hearing on the death of Miu Yeuk Lai,
Episode 15,
The Prosecutor Vs Yeung Kok Kui
SPOILERS ALERT!
The Prosecutor Vs Yeung Kok Kui
The case : The murder of Miu Yeuk Lai, wife of the accused
Counsel for the state : The prosecutor, Kris Wong (Lead counsel), Nameless (Mrs Ma's case prosecutor as assistant), Law Ba (Advisor)
Defence : Cheung Pak Kei (Lead counsel), Victor Ching Pok Him (assistant)
I wonder why prosecution bothered with asking Kris to do this case when next to her is the ultra experienced looking prosecutor from Mrs Ma's case, another ultra high profile case. Why? WHY? I can say honestly that there is a closure for this case in tonight's episode and up until now, I dare declare this is the stupidest case in the entire series and if another case can top this, then clearly someone is so jealous of Law Ba that they just wanna do him in by making this series go towards Stupid Legal Questions Land.
But first, the recap and I apologise if it is insufferable to read because this was insufferable to recap due to the many insufferable stupid legal questions that are just.... you know the drill...
STUPID.
Recap in a very short way which I can do.
Kris felt stupid next to PK who destroyed her witnesses and her way of handling the case. She called the uncle next door who saw Yeung pushing Lai's head into the water and PK destroyed his testimony by making as if Yeung was SAVING his wife from drowning. The fact that he saw passports and plane tickets were not emphasised by Kris. The kid was never called as witness. Kris now panicking and wondered why didn't they put the kid on stand and I was like Kris, what do you want the kid to say? My daddy killed my mommy? He is already half an orphan! Panicking but Law Ba managed to calm her down to play a game of ping pong and it was Mrs Leung's turn to panic since she needs to get home early and not do another round of OT! When she was going back, released early by the ping pong duo she saw George also working late. She made them supper and then left. George saw 2 heart shaped fried eggs (can you make eggs using microwave???), happily ate them and ran after Mrs Leung, calling "Ting Ting! Ting Ting!" and took her home. On the way Mrs Leung said she made those eggs for the duo, hoping they will confess their love for one another at last and George knew he ate them by mistake and Mrs Leung actually made him an ordinary sandwich so he gulped his mistake and said no more. Mrs Leung said "You know just now I heard someone called Ting Ting. For a moment I thought someone called me but then I have never been known as Ting Ting. That was scary!" and George gulped some more. At the centre George made 2 heart shape sandwiches for the duo who knew he liked Mrs Leung and said he had good taste in choosing Mrs Leung and even said "She has separated 2 years from her husband. She can file for divorce!" but George didn't think he has any right to ask Mrs Leung to do so, and angrily left when teased mercilessly by the duo who then went back to teasing one another. Trial continues and lo and behold, Yeung on the stand and confessed he did go into Lai's house by swinging from the other building, begged her to come home, argued, then left. It was 1 day before she died. Kris found a witness who was painting tables on the rooftop to say that the paint was only present there on the day Lai died. So Yeung again went to witness box and confessed he lied, it was that day Lai died, he was upset, he drank a lot and ate pills and fainted and woke up and she died. Kris exposed him as a 3 time liar; once when asked by police, twice at the trial so why should the jury believe him this time? When was he telling the truth? Good point Kris!
So... what PK is saying is he did climb in, he did kill, he forgot, he was automaton sort of defence so it is not murder but at best manslaughter. He even persuaded the unlicensed doctor who pumped Yeung's stomach to testify and he is credible because he has everything to lose being unlicensed, no one will go to him again once he is exposed and he wasn't lying. Yeung did go to him, drunken, hallucinating, etc. So what Yeung said was backed up by an alibi. Kris couldn't destroy the witness at all. Some expert testified automaton is possible under that situation.
Pause here.
Kris, why didn't you ask him can he pinpoint when he took the pills? Before he killed Lai so he was driven to kill by the pills or after he killed Lai which means it was a calculated move?
Continue.
Summation. All Kris could say was Lai deserves justice, Yeung a liar, give justice to Lai. PK did a better summation by stressing yes he lied, yes he lied many times but he was scared, worried for his half an orphan kid, he can't remember killing, he didn't mean it, does not justify murder.
Verdict. Not guilty of murder but of manslaughter. Kris didn't look too happy, Law Ba was smiling because I think he knew what was happening, or maybe not and PK looked.. emotionless. On his way to his car, Victor congratulated his sifu who said there is nothing to be happy about and we see flashback;
That bastard did climb into Lai's place, she wasn't home, he looked through her stuff, saw Mai Bo's pic, tore the diary and the picture, Lai came home, he begged her to go home with him, she insisted on divorce, he calmed down, asked for a drink, she gave him, they sat down, before that he put some stuff into her drink, she became weakened, he grabbed her cheeks and forced her to take pills and drink alcohol as he said "DIVORCE? YOU WANT DIVORCE? TAKE THIS YOU BITCH!! NAH!! HERE IS YOUR DIVORCE!!!" and he carried her to her bed where she died. He called PK who was driving home and Pk said.. "Hi! Thanks to your advice, I earned lots in the shares!" and Yeung said "Spencer, I killed my wife" and PK shocked momentarily said "You mean you THINK you killed your wife?" and Yeung began to understand the significance and said "Yes I think I killed my wife" and Spencer said "What happened?" and he explained and PK said "You mean you were so upset you drank alcohol and took pills and then you can't remember what happened, you woke up and she is dead?" and Yeung said "Yes, yes that was what happened. What should I do now?" and OK said "Go to a doctor, pump your stomach, go to an unlicensed doctor if you want less publicity" and Yeung said "How should I leave?" and Pk said "You leave from where you came in, call me when you have gone to a doctor". So he left by climbing out.
Victor said admirably "Sir, that was a brilliant move. I wonder what would happened if he came to me first?!" and PK said "You? He would have been convicted of murder and will be spending the rest of his life in prison".
Next episode; new case, but more importantly, why did PK knocked Jing Jing unconcious?!
I understand this story is trying to be different that we know in the end PK expected manslaughter, he planned the entire defence, all Kris had to do was to show up and do a credible job. He knew Yeung was guilty as hell, but he only required a lesser sentence than murder. But it was so stupid! Kris could have won this case when he confessed he killed his wife. Because who was to know he took pills before or after the murder. What everyone knew was the wife left him, she was beaten, she had planned to leave with her son, he lied again and again and again. The juries buy his defence of automaton or something like that, but that is because Kris did a poor job at prosecuting. Why didn't she emphasise on the passports and plane tickets? Why didn't she emphasise on the doubt as to when he took the pills, the fact that he can still drive to see the doctor after meant he took the pills not too long ago? Why didn't she emphasise he confessed, he has motive and more importantly, yes she said he lied 3 times but she should have emphasised more! I thought it was such a stupid case. The end was like a stroke of brilliance you say? Of course not! PK would never have told Victor all that; being such a careful man, will a careful man go and blah out he basically did something that is illegal? No of course not! Stupid case. And poor Miu Yeuk Lai. No justice in the end since that abusive murderous dreadful husband will be out in a few years and imagine the kid growing up with such a father. No news on Mai Bo and his fate; was he at least charged with perverting the course of justice? And will we ever see an appeal case? I mean this case deserved to be appealed by the prosecutor. Bastard husband!
Performance wise, Shek Sau looks anal retentive if there is such a word. Does he ever smile? He sounds like he talks whilst biting down his tongue.
Myolie Wu still talks like a bullet train during those cross examination scenes and frankly I find her an unconvincing trial lawyer. As for her other scenes, no comment.
Everybody else, normal except a shout out to Jazz Lam for being utterly cute in the way he called out Ting Ting! Ting Ting! Poor guy needs a girlfriend. And also to Nameless that is Kwong Chor Fai for looking every inch the prosecutor with his reaction, the way he sat, etc and let him speak and he probably could have made this case a murder case instead of manslaughter!

Coroner Inquest Hearing on the death of Miu Yeuk Lai,
Episode 14,
The Prosecutor Vs Yeung Kok Kui
SPOILERS ALERT!
A very short recap for this episode where the cases are
Coroner's Inquest Hearing on the death of Miu Yeuk Lai
Anyway, first the recap.
Law Ba basically accused the police of not doing enough investigative work and 3 questions remains in Miu Yeuk Lai's death, one of which I absolutely forgot to recap in the last episode;
1. how and who made those bruises on her face;
2. who took away 2 pages torn from the diary;
3. the one I forgot, Grandma Yim received a SMS on her handphone from Lai's handphone on the night of her "suicide", telling Grandma Yim to take good care of herself but Grandma Yim says Lai knew Grandma Yim does not know how to retrieve SMS messages and never sent her any so why and who sent that SMS to Grandma Yim?
3 questions, all unanswered if Mai Bo's testimony is to be believed and all those lead back to who will benefit most and gain most satisfaction from her death? Law Ba thundered with his signature hand movement, YEUNG KOK KUI and the detective began to look at Mr Yeung who looked way too guilty for his own good.
Jury arrived at a decision; too many unanswered questions from Lai's death, so urged the police to reopen and reinvestigate file.
Not long later, Mr Yeung was invited to have a coffee at the police station. Oh and Grandma Yim never said sorry to Mai Bo for accusing him of murder and thus destroyed 40 years of his reputation. No news of whether he was arrested for perverting the course of justice although who can blame him? I would have thought Lai killed herself.
At the police station, Yeung refused to answer any question until his lawyer came and guess who? Yes, finally SOME WORK for Shek Sau other than appear in club, sneer, say something, walk away, Stephen appears, say something even worse, appear stupid when Law Ba insulted back and walk away sheepish. PK said "You don't need to answer their questions except to reiterate what you said when they first interviewed you, and if you don't remember, they're obliged to give you a copy. Anything else, you don't need to say" and so Yeung smugly said "I have said what I have said, I don't need to say anything else!!"
Smug. I have so wronged Mai Bo's butler but can you blame me dear readers? I mean he is someone well known and my guess was immediately him!! Until I learn the woman had a husband, and that husband is Connie Chan Po Chu's son. Mother's famous, so son did it! HE DID IT!!!
The police searched and searched the apartment, nothing. Chik was getting restless. I forgot who discovered it but they saw traces of mud or something outside the windows. Which means someone climbed in hence no need for keys.
Chik and detectives went to see Yeung who by the way lives in a huge house! Very rich! Chik merely assisting since he is not homicide department. Anyway Yeung so arrogant said "Search all you want" which they did and saw Grandma Yim with grandson, Wai Chai. Grandma Yim volunteered to take care of Wai Chai for a few days so Yeung allowed. Anyway found some ropes and stuff and Yeung said arrogantly "So what? That proves nothing. I am the president of the mountain climbing club, so obviously those things should be in my house"
Pause here.
DING! DING! DING! President of climbing club, someone climbed the windows. HE DID IT!!!
Continue. But those are not enough. They're not the same thing used at the scene of the crime. But Yeung was asked to go to police station for another cup of coffee, arrogantly he said "You better search all you want and find everything this one time. I wouldn't want you to waste your time for a 2nd round".
Hate that dude.
All left, Chik was about to leave when the maid came out and said "Are you looking for these? These are what I found when master left them in plastic bags" and inside were mountain climbing stuff, with mud on them. Chik was terribly happy.
At the centre, Law Ba or someone got the call and he said "Chik sounded so happy, I swear he could have married that maid!" and it was proven same mud, same dust, same stuff, he was there, charged with MURDER.
And then one stupid question was asked; "However this case will prove difficult since must show motive"
Pause here.
Will you believe me if I say motive is not THAT important in a murder case? Of course logically it should be but it isn't THAT important? State of mind maybe, motive per se no. And what a stupid question to ask; I mean abusive possessive husband, wife having adulterous affair, face being humiliated, isn't that a motive?! Stupid case. It gets worse believe me.
Anyway new case...
The Prosecutor Vs Yeung Kok Kui
The case : The murder of Miu Yeuk Lai, wife of the accused
Counsel for the state : The prosecutor, Kris Wong (Lead counsel), Law Ba (Advisor)
Defence : Cheung Pak Kei (Lead counsel), Victor Ching Pok Him
Oh, nobody wanted to take this case, not even the entire list of prosecutors in own prosecutor office so Kris was asked and she was like last, last, last choice. I mean no one in the prosecution office, at all?? Silvia said "But you're up against PK (they actually call him Cheung Jong by the way but I will continue to use PK) and PK is ruthless when he deals with opponents. Is it smart to take this case?" and Kris said "Why not? This case is a goldmine for me!" and Silvia said "Let me guess; it wouldn't matter if you win or lose" and Kris said "Correct. If I win over PK, my reputation established. If I am to lose, peers will say it is expected since against PK. Seriously I have nothing to lose".
In court same magistrate to record please, PK rose and said his client pleads not guilty and Kris kicking herself in the foot said "As the prosecution has not found the murder weapon, we request for more time for the police to find the evidence".
Right. Why don't charge him LATER when you do have murder weapon which by the way is an insane oxymoron in here since where got murder weapon? He stuffed the pills down her throat! But did I hear wrong? Maybe I did.
Anyway PK objected, said unfair to his client to prolong the case, he is a businessman, etc. Poor Kris had nothing to say. May I suggest Kris maybe say a young woman was killed, murdered leaving a son, his reputation is no more important than justice for the dead woman? Maybe bail at HKD10million? Anyway judge agreed with PK and said no more longer dates and Kris gulped. She is severely inexperience and I suppose she was really last last last choice.
Outside the court, Kris consulting with Nameless (by Kwong Chor Fai who really looks like a prosecutor! why can't he take the case?!) when PK walked to her with Victor and yes, the insults.
"Hello Kris, I am surprised you dare to take this case since against me but I would wish you luck and I have seen you in Mrs Ma's case, I am sure you will be a worthy opponent" and Kris smiled and said "PK, I hope you will spare me! Who doesn't know the famous PK who has won on even more stringent evidence! But I am sure I will prove worthy opponent like you said" and PK said "Why did you take the case? To be famous outright? You choose your case very well Kris" as Kris smiled and said " I know you must think me as some small time barrister unworthy of your time. I am taking this case for justice, that's all" and PK's parting shot "But I will not tolerate anyone using my good name to climb up the ladder, I will destroy such a person, you will see" and he walked away and Kris.. gulped.
At her mom's restaurant she bought Law Ba food, he complained why her noodle have abalone and all, yeah they're kinda dating right now I think and she said "I was ermmm thinking of ermmm offering you to be the second chair to me in Yeung Kok Kui's case" and Law Ba immediately jumped up and refused as he said "No way! Against PK? He is a shark! He will destroy the case yes, but in the process he will make you look like a fool and destroy you. There is no benefit in being his opponent, nobody dared and only you, being a fool did. Don't ask me for help! I want to live and prosper!" and Kris almost threw a tantrum as she said "Fine! I will pay you. In fact I will donate all my fees for this case to the centre" and Law Ba said "No, no way!" and tantrum time and Law Ba softened and said "Is that how you ask people for help?" and Kris turned on her charm, sat him down, gave him a massage as her mother looked on disapprovingly as she said "Come one, please... please help me... please....." and Law Ba looked at her and smiled and said "Oh OK OK!!!" and she smiled happily when he said "Wait! I have to be second fiddle to a woman; I am a man behind a woman's success story....I shall require an extra something" as he moved close towards Kris who got very alarmed and said "What.. do you want to do?" and h said slyly "What do you think?" and then he grabbed a piece of abalone from her plate and ate it gleefully as she looked on in shock as he said "Well, what did you expect?!"
Ha ha Law Ba! Ha ha! So no sex yet right? Nothing censored yet right? No kiss kiss right?
Meanwhile on Jing and Teng love story. To cut the long story short, he confessed his love, she ran away. Later we find out why when they were at her place after running in the rain, she sprained her ankle, etc. He said he will pay her if that is how she expects it and she said ok and she removed her shirt and oh dear, her stomach very very scarred.
Pause here.
I remember she wore hot pants but did she ever bare her midriff? I don't remember such bad scarring.
Anyway she narrated her tale; the guy she fell for, cut the long story short, his fiance threw hot oil on her stomach and as she laid writhing in pain begging for him to help her, he left with the fiance. Despicable. She sees Teng as potentially like him; minus the oil and such but plus parents equal heartbreak for her. He said "If you want to only have relationship with single men with no parents, try Law Ba or Chik then! Give me a chance" but she shooed him out. He persisted. One day he dragged her into the car, made her change in to a rather nice purple ruffled dress and took her to meet his parents who both said they're ok with her poor background or lack of education (he didn't mention prostituting as a profession which she wanted to but he stopped her) and he confessed "Father, mother, you both be my witness. I will marry no one other than Jing Jing and I will love and cherish her no matter what!" and the parents treated her well and she was moved. Later on he said "I will tell them everything when your relationship with them is more established. I am sure they will understand; how can anyone not like you" and I was like Teng, you're too optimistic.
Later Jing met with Kris, told her what happened and Jing said "I never knew I have such luck to meet a man like Teng but my background, I can never change that" and Kris for once said something human "Jing, leave your current job. Find another one!" but Jing said she doesn't know what else she can do.
Like cashier?
Later we see Kris finding Teng at the centre who was making phone calls to rent a small place so to realise Jing's dream of a French restaurant. He's a social worker and he can afford to rent her a place?! Kris approved of Teng and encouraged them to work it out.
Back to case.
Kris, Law Ba visiting Grandma Yim and Wai Chai at Yeung's place, Grandma Yim swore to take good care of Wai Chai. Wai Chai wants his daddy as he said mommy is already dead but then Grandma Yim said "I once saw Wai Chai having a terrible dream. He told me he dreamt ..."
FLASHBACK.
Lai wanted to leave Yeung with Wai Chai but Yeung found out, in front of Wai Chai pushed her into the pool and basically pushed her head under the water as he repeated "You want to take my son away?! YOU WANT TO TAKE MY SON AWAY?! TAKE THIS! TAKE THIS!!!"
Very abusive. Crazy in fact. Kris went to Wai Chai and said "Wai Chai, can I call you as my witness? You must tell this in court. This will establish motive..."
How stupid.
"You must tell the truth, to give your mother justice"
Kris is basically badgering the kid to repeat the dream but she forgot, the kid will think I only have daddy left so I won't tell, sort of mentality. Like half an orphan/
Wai Chai shook his head, very traumatised by Kris' very aggressive attitude until Law Ba stopped her and said "He won't, you can't force him" when PK and Vincent entered (where they got the keys?!) and Pk said "I see you're badgering the witness, I am here to check on Wai Chai to make sure he is ok" as Law Ba smiled "Or you're here to make sure he doesn't say something he shouldn't say" and PK took offence as he said "You will stop badgering the boy" as Kris said "I will seek the court's permission to add Wai Chai as prosecution's witness" and PK said "Too late. We have applied for him to be defence witness so please do not approach my witness anymore!" and Kris frowned which is crazy, she can cross examine the boy but of course she will look evil in the eyes of the jury as Wai Chai rushed to PK and said "Uncle, I want daddy, I want to save daddy". Poor kid, I understand his dilemma. PK said to Law Ba (with very little respect given to Kris),Although Kris is the prosecutor I am glad you're his shadow advisor. Indirectly we are now opponents and I relish the chance to fight you in court!" and Law Ba walked right up to PK, and smiled as he said "And I shall relish the chance to beat you in court and see your loser's face".
YEAH LAW BA, give it to him!! He sorta insulted your girl once too many times.
Next episode, Yeung Kok Kui looked very very shocked. Hmmmm... why?
No comments for this. Too tired to comment.
